More Info

Hey everybody, we are Bird of Light, a group of individuals located in Ukraine working to help out the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

We are a group of individuals who found ourselves within the war and decided to see what we can do to help out in the situation.

Since the war started, we have developed close relationships with the local administration, and have developed a supply and distribution network that can bring in wholesale quantities of items and distribute them to over 50% of the country. We additionally have full visibility of where items are being delivered through the country.

What we need now though is money so we can continue delivering more aid into the country, where it is needed most.

Please help us out by donating, and sharing our fundraiser. Every bit of help helps tremendously.

Update #11

Our fundraiser is again, under attack by malicious agents. They have flooded our fundraiser with hundreds of thousands of stolen credit cards with small amounts. This has halted the donations to our program.

No doubt, something done by somebody in support of Russia.

We will keep on doing our best to support Ukraine despite this assault from these malicious actors. Slava Ukraini.

Update #10

Late update from May 19th :)

We've since delivered our 33 tons of food in the form of 3000 care package bags. Each bag contains enough food for a family for one week or hygiene needs for a month.

In other metrics: 28860 calories OR 43 meals worth of food measured on a 2000 calorie daily diet...

And to top it off, we also managed to deliver this all for cheap. Each bag came out to $24. Meaning that all costs included, each meal comes to about $0.56. And for roughly $5 we were able to provide hygiene needs for a family for a month. Now that's a deal.

These items have been going to some of the most hard-hit regions across Ukraine including Kharkiv, Severodonetsk, Kherson, Dnipro, Odesa, and Zhaporzhzhia. For the keen observers, you might notice that many of these regions are also under siege. To accomplish this, we work with courageous drivers – most of whom insist on being volunteers – who have been tirelessly delivering supplies since the war began.

We're now starting our second round of food bags and what we need most is money to continue our program. To continue supporting us, please spread our program to your friends and family! Every dollar goes a mile here. Or in our specific case, every dollar means two meals.

Update #9

First 22 out of 33 tons of food and hygiene products arrived in Ukraine! These will be assembled into care packages to be distributed throughout the country to those who need it most in active conflict zones, or recently liberated regions.

Thank you so much to everybody who is contributing to our efforts here. Please share our campaign-- what we need the most to continue large deliveries like this is donations!

Update #6

Wow. What a journey it has been since our last update... Since we posted about our initial delivery of the baby food a lot has happened.

We have since delivered...
6 AMBULANCES!
~300kg of medical supplies. Including gauze, burn bandages, stretchers, IV kits, syringes, and emergency blankets.
6 TONS of rice
5000 protein bars
11 civilian drones
1.6 tons of other food
808 Tourniquets (with 10,000 more en route)
18100 units of iodine pills

The local administration here has been beyond thrilled to say the least. They are telling us that they have never seen a group on the ground act so quickly and effectively. You can imagine how excited we are to be helping them and making such an impact.

Just last night, we donated two of those ambulances, filled with medical supplies and food, to frontline medics in Mykolaiv. We also paid for a hotel room for these brave men. This was the first safe sleep without threat of death they have had since the war broke out.

We are touching so many lives here in Ukraine and this would not be possible without the help of the people who are supporting us here.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Please donate and share this campaign! Every bit of help helps :)

Update #5

Deliveries made :)

These food items are going directly to the frontlines to feed children escaping cities being bombed, and into the cities where people are currently struggling for food.

We're hoping to get some photos of these deliveries once they're made!

More to come!

Update #4

Hey everybody :) Big update for what's going around here.

We are now back in Ukraine from Romania with the following:

$8,300 USD in baby food to be delivered
$8,000 in medical supplies arriving tomorrow
$12,000 in misc items including supplies for mothers, medical supplies, supplies for soldiers
$8,000 in food items purchased in Romania

Some of these items have just been delivered and we're now that we've got most of the supply situation figured out, we're now focusing on distribution, and getting a closer connection with the supply and demand situation around here.

To do this, we're currently in touch with the regional coordinator for the distribution of aid in our city, a volunteer distribution center, and a high-up military officer.

Our focus as a small group will be to be as supply these groups with high value, difficult to obtain items.

Please share this campaign! Every dollar being spent is being DIRECTLY applied and put into good use. We're spending more than we've raised, here ;)

Update #3

Hey everybody :)

Quick update on things. We're now in Romania and will be making a purchase of medical supplies during our stay here. We've also figured out how to procure pharmaceuticals with export approval so we can now acquire drugs on a massive scale. We'll send pictures once we go shopping ;)

We're also in touch with the government to pool funds together to make a larger purchase to meet their needs.

Every bit of funding helps! Please share this campaign with your friends and family. Every single share brings in a few new donors to help the cause.

Update #2

Hey everybody :)

First, thank you to everybody who has contributed to this fundraiser thus far. We have identified a wholesaler of medical equipment and supplies in Romania and we'll be making a trip down there this weekend to make a huge purchase.

We're also in touch with folks in Lviv who get far more up to date information on the ever-changing supply requirements and will be purchasing with respect to the new needs that they are being informed on.

We don't have as much raised here, but some friends will be joining us there with 40k raised and a few extra vehicles to help transport and purchase supplies with us.

Please share this fundraiser to your friends and family-- the Russians have begun escalating brutal violence towards civilians as a negotiation tactic. Medical supplies are now needed more than ever.

Be well and Slava Ukraini!

Update #1

Hey everybody :) I know some people have been donating by sending money directly on Venmo, so just to give an idea of what we've been using it for...

We've thus far withdrawn 35,000 UAH (about $1200) and donated the funds to the facility. This money will be going towards purchasing food and providing shelter to families currently fleeing the war.

We are also getting in touch with other regional organizations providing shelter or providing people with safe passage and will be allocating funds towards those orgs as the need emerges.

You can read more about the facility we are fundraising with here :)
